Arbcore Tree Surgeons covering Dolgellau
Dolgellau sits inside Eryri, the Snowdonia National Park, in the shadow of Cadair Idris and above the Mawddach estuary - which means most tree work here has to be planned around the National Park's own landscape and terrain as much as the trees themselves. Arbcore has been working this ground for over 20 years, covering the town itself and the surrounding villages of Llanelltyd, Ganllwyd, Brithdir and Bontddu, for homeowners, businesses and local authorities alike.
Tree work within a National Park
Because Dolgellau falls inside Eryri National Park, tree work here is often subject to the National Park Authority's own planning controls, in addition to (and sometimes instead of) the usual Tree Preservation Order and conservation area checks we carry out everywhere. The town centre itself is a conservation area of grey stone buildings, so trees on or near the main streets often need extra care and, in some cases, formal consent before any work starts. We check this every time, as standard, before we quote - it's not an extra step we tack on, it's built into how we plan a job here.
The terrain adds its own factors too: steep ground rising toward Cadair Idris, exposed upland sites, and riverside trees along the Wnion and near the Torrent Walk and Coed y Brenin forest that see heavier rainfall and faster water than most of our other coverage areas. We plan access, rigging and site protection around that from the outset rather than treating it as a standard lowland garden job.
Our Tree Services
At Arbcore, we are delighted to help the good people of Dolgellau with all their arborist requirements, whether you need a complete tree removal or a reduction of your tree canopy.
Our services include:
Felling or section felling - We use our pulley and rope system to completely remove trees, and this will happen in one go or in sections, depending on any obstacles on the site.
Crown thinning - By removing some of the dead or damaged limbs on a tree, we can allow more light to pass through the tree canopy.
Pollarding - This extreme pruning is only used when a tree could cause serious damage to important infrastructure, such as electricity and power cables.
Crown reduction - By removing up to a quarter of the outer branches of a tree, we can reduce the size of the outer canopy to allow more light to pass through.
Crown raising - By removing some of the lower branches, obstructions can be prevented and more light can shine on the ground around the tree.
Landscaping - From raised vegetable beds, paving, and decking, to fencing, excavations for terracing and levelling, and building ponds, we do it all for you, no matter how large or small your project is.
Garden maintenance - We can prune and trim hedges, cut grass, pressure wash your patio, collect leaves, and carry out planting as regularly as you need us to.
Forestry services - We can carry out regeneration clearance, riparian regeneration, clear paths and bridleways, and get control of invasive weeds.
Our Process
Our process begins when we visit your property to look at the work you need us to do. We write a quote via post or email and double-check the project to be completed when we come back to begin the work. We will also sign off on a variety of checks, including risk assessments, health and safety, tree protection, and wildlife preservation. Once the work is complete, we ensure your happiness with what we have done, before cleaning up the site of any mess that may have occurred. With landscaping projects, we provide detailed drawings and plans throughout the process to ensure you have as much knowledge as possible before, during, and after any project.
